An ERP migration touches finance, supply chain and operations at once, so the cost of getting the approach wrong is high. Before choosing a platform, it's worth answering four questions honestly.
What is actually broken today? Teams often reach for a new platform to fix a process problem that better configuration or integration could solve. Separate "the system is wrong" from "the process running on it is wrong."
How many regional or business-unit variants do we really need? Every variant adds ongoing maintenance cost. A platform like ERPNext can move fast for a single business unit; SAP or Oracle earn their complexity when there are genuinely many regional or regulatory variants to support.
